Tuesday, July 15th , 2025
There are moments in a player's career that they will not soon forget.
Jhonayker Ugarte of the Columbia Fireflies had one such moment at Daniel S. Frawley Stadium, when he went 5 for 7 at the plate. His hitting heroics weren't enough to pull out the victory, however, and Columbia succumbed to defeat, 4-3, to the Tampa Tarpons.
"This was quite a day for me individually, but a little disheartening at the same time," the 18-year-old third baseman told reporters in the postgame interview. "It would have been very special if we had won the game."
Jhonayker Ugarte struck out in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 7th, hit an RBI single in the 9th, struck out in the 12th and singled in the 14th.
So far this season, Ugarte has put up a .307 batting average with 93 hits, 9 home runs and 48 RBIs.
