|
Detroit wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Logan Gilbert, falling to the Texas Rangers, 4-3. Gilbert threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Jose Quijada, who is tied for 3rd in the AL in saves with 22, was the winner in relief. His record is now 2-2. The losing pitcher was Andrew Nardi. The Rangers, at 47-51, have now won 7 straight.
Tyler Black was the walk-off hero for Texas. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Rangers right fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"It's what good teams do, find a way to win," said Black.
