White Sox Earn Win with Late Rally
|
The Chicago White Sox and Pittsburgh Pirates played an entertaining game for PNC Park patrons.
Pittsburgh got a big-time effort from pitcher MacKenzie Gore, but it wasn't enough to keep the Chicago White Sox from winning the game, 4-3. Gore threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Edwin Diaz earned his 16th save in 19 chances.
Chicago used the timely hitting of Brandon Nimmo to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the White Sox on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"This team's hitting on all cylinders," said White Sox manager Bobby Kirkpatrick.
The White Sox, now 74-24, have won 7 in a row.
