Reds Popped by Mets, 8-1
|
New York Mets starter Kevin Gausman led his team to victory over the Cincinnati Reds, 8-1. The right-hander was locked-in. The win puts New York at 52-46 this season.
The Reds had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Mets going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 32-year old first baseman Rhys Hoskins came to the plate. Hoskins hit a bases-clearing double on a 1-2 cutter from Cincinnati hurler Garrett Crochet. It was Hoskins's 11th double of the year.
"I thought we played a nice game," Hoskins told the New York Observer. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
