The New York Mets picked up a win at Citi Field, dropping the Cincinnati Reds, 3-1. Seth Lugo, who led the AL in saves with 44 in 2022, was the difference-maker. Evan Phillips was credited with the save, his 23rd in 24 tries. With the win, New York has a record of 53-46. Cincinnati falls to 43-56.
Bryan Reynolds, who finished 2nd in the NL in triples with 9 in 2022, took Cincinnati hurler Mark Leiter Jr. deep in the bottom of the sixth. His 2-run home run put the Mets on top, 3-1. In all, Reynolds had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 3.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said New York manager Larry Linke.
