The Detroit Tigers and Texas Rangers riveted fans at Globe Life Park in Arlington.
The Texas Rangers defeated the Detroit Tigers by the score of 7-2, with the biggest share of the credit going to right fielder Tyler Black. Black hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Rangers on the day. The winner was Tyler Mahle, who threw 95 pitches over 6.2 innings. The right-hander was charged with 2 runs on 7 hits. Ryan Murphy recorded the save, making him 2 for 2.
Justin Foscue had a big 2-run home run for the Rangers in the bottom of the second inning. With Texas leading 1-0 and a runner on 3rd, he sized up a slider from Tobias Myers, who is tied for 7th in the AL in innings pitched with 131.0, and punished it. The result was his 14th home run of the season, which put the Rangers on top, 3-0.
Foscue attributed the win to his team's "concerted effort."
After today's action, Texas sits at 48-52; Detroit slips to 41-59.
