Down Goes Washington, 2-1
|
Hurler Gavin Stone gave the San Diego Padres a solid start. The native of Lake City, Arkansas helped his team defeat the Washington Nationals, 2-1, at Nationals Park. Joe Jimenez, credited with the save, is now 12 for 15 in save opportunities. Washington's current losing streak has reached 4 games.
Austin Shenton had a direct impact on the outcome. Shenton contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth inning to put San Diego up, 2-0.
"Our offense was purring," said San Diego manager John Carney. "Like a well-oiled machine."
