New York Tops Toronto, 12-7
|
New York shortstop Matt McLain contributed significantly to his team's 12-7 win over the Toronto Blue Jays. McLain went 2 for 4 with 3 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Yankees. Yimi Garcia picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 5-2. Sonny Gray suffered the loss. The victory puts New York at 30-70.
New York used the hitting of Juan Yepez to pick up the win. The third baseman clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Yankees on top, 4-0. For the game, Yepez had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Yankees manager Jeremiah Coggins. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
