Woodruff Takes Chainsaw to Philadelphia Bats in 4-1 Win
The Washington Nationals started the 2025 season win an impressive 4-1 win against the Philadelphia Phillies at Nationals Park. Brandon Woodruff, who finished 3rd in the NL in innings pitched with 207.2 in 2020, led the way for Washington. Aroldis Chapman earned the save, his 1st, for the Nationals.

Washington starter Brandon Woodruff was exceptional. The 6-foot-4 right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits over 8 innings of work.

"I still think this team can play even better," Woodruff told the Washington Herald.
