On Road, Pirates Top Marlins, 5-3

The Miami Marlins inaugurated the 2025 campaign with a disappointing 5-3 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates at Marlins Park. Pittsburgh right fielder Colt Keith had a big impact on the outcome. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. MacKenzie Gore picked up the win, improving his season record to 1-0. He struck out 8 in 5.1 innings. Gabe Speier earned the save, his 1st, for the Pirates.
Pittsburgh grabbed the momentum in the top of the fifth, when Keith hit a 3-run home run off Zack Wheeler. His 1st home run of the season put the Pirates out in front, 5-2.
"We did enough to win," said Keith.
