Tropicana Field was the site of the home opener for the Tampa Bay Rays. The contest featured a prime matchup between Shohei Ohtani of the visiting Colorado Rockies and Nestor Cortes of the Rays. The final score was 5-1, the Rockies getting the win. Pete Alonso turned in the best performance. Raisel Iglesias earned the save, his 1st, for the Rockies.

Early in the game, Alonso had a 2-run home run for Colorado. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Rockies on top, 2-0.

"I still think this team can play even better," Alonso told the Colorado Times.
