Colorado starter Shane McClanahan kept the Tampa Bay offense from doing much damage. The left-hander leaned on his fastball in leading the Rockies to a 4-1 win. Colorado goes to 3-0.

Colorado needed the clutch hitting of Shohei Ohtani to seal the deal. The designated hitter swatted a 3-run home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Rockies on top, 4-1. For the game, Ohtani had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

Said losing manager TJ Barnaba: "Obviously, we wished for a better outcome."
