The Seattle Mariners handed the Detroit Tigers a 4-3 defeat at Safeco Field. Second Baseman Ketel Marte starred for Seattle. He slugged 2 home runs. Justin Martinez finished the game for Seattle and earned his 1st save. The loss drops Detroit to 0-5.

Marte had an important at-bat with the bases empty in the bottom of the sixth, when he hit a solo home run. The Mariners went on to win.

After the game, Seattle manager Jesus Cardiel applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
