Miami turned a good effort from starter Chris Paddack into a win over the Kansas City Royals at Marlins Park. The final score was 4-1. The 59-38 Marlins lead the National League East Division by one game.

The Marlins got a big at-bat from third baseman Brendan Donovan. For the game, Donovan was 1-4 with a triple. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 3rd triple of the season gave Miami a 2-0 lead.

"There were things that we could've improved upon," said Marlins manager Pat Padula, "but all in all, I'm satisfied with our performance."
