Phillies Turn Back Washington, 6-4
|
The Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Washington Nationals, 6-4, in part because of second baseman Jeremiah Jackson. Jackson went 2 for 5 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Phillies. Philadelphia reliever James Karinchak was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Kirk McCarty. With the loss, Washington sinks to 1-1.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Dane Myers? The 29-year old center fielder Myers stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put Philadelphia up, 4-3. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"I put some good swings on the ball," said Jackson.
