The home crowd had a good time watching the Minnesota Twins and St. Louis Cardinals get after it.
The St. Louis Cardinals beat the Minnesota Twins, 6-2, at Busch Stadium. St. Louis right fielder Lars Nootbaar led the way. He was 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Chris Bassitt was the winner. Over 6.1 innings, he yielded 2 runs on 7 hits, with 2 walks and 7 strikeouts. Ryan Walker earned save number 2.
With St. Louis leading 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth, Nootbaar hit a fastball from Yariel Rodriguez for a solo home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Cardinals ahead, 4-2.
Postgame, Cardinals manager Tyler Wagner complimented Nootbaar. "No question about it. 0 was terrific."
The victory makes St. Louis 3-0.
